At the end of June, we will be publishing another info-packed newsletter for SBCAMFT members, with a feature about person-first language (e.g. person with substance use disorder; person with dyslexia). We are currently looking for 2 different types of submissions and need your help. If you, or someone you know is a good fit for these features, please reach out to me at

  1. Video compilation: Respond to the following prompt with a 15-second to 1-minute video clip.
    1. Prompt: Why does person-first language matter to you?
    2. Format: (mp4 format from a smart phone is great or a Zoom recording video file)
    3. Submit: Send to by May 25, 2022.
  2. Reflections:  Do you have thoughts you want to share on the topic of person-first language?
  1. Details: Send us a short (1-3 paragraph) written reflection about person-first language
  2. Photo: Please include a horizontal photo of yourself (or a vertical photo that can be cropped horizontally) to accompany your reflection (a logo or organization photo is a great alternative, too).
  3. Submit: Send to by May 27, 2022.
