Diversity Information & Events

Message from Diversity Committee Chair, Jonathan Thompson II

As we have honored Juneteenth and are about to hold our third Tea with J.T. event, we look forward to the season of summer.  For many, this will be a time to celebrate, however for others the work does not take a vacation.  As a diversity subcommittee, we will model self-care and take a break for the summer months.  We look forward to continuing our work in the remainder of the calendar year.  Continued community conversations will be held restarting in September.  Thank you all for your dedication in making SBCAMFT more diverse, equitable, inclusive and just.

SBCAMFT is committed to working in practical and substantive ways to take action in both our organization and our community, in order to learn about and remain aware of longstanding patterns of historical and systemic discrimination and biases, and to take action towards breaking these patterns.

Diversity Events

SBCAMFT is committed to working in practical and substantive ways to take action in both our organization and our community, in order to learn about and remain aware of longstanding patterns of historical and systemic discrimination and biases, and to take action towards breaking these patterns. SBCAMFT is providing a new offering for members and soon-to-be-members an opportunity to engage in building trust, practicing active listening, and working to have a place to create action both personally and professionally.

The purpose of this group is to provide space for clinicians and those who desire to better understand longstanding patterns that impact our community.  This will allow for dialogue as often the question is posed "Where do I start?"
