Course Description:

In this workshop, David Jensen, J.D., will give attendees an overview of the licensing board process and educate licensees and associates about the statutory powers that the BBS holds. Jensen will use real world examples to demonstrate common missteps and clarify expectations of the Board of Behavioral Sciences. 

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the complaint mechanism process for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
2. Discuss the 25 ways that licensees and associates can get into trouble with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
3. Explain the differences between a Citation and an Accusation/Statement of Issues.
4. Identify the "things" licensees and associates can do to stay on the good side of the BBS

Reference include: California Business and Professions Code Section 4982 and actual BBS Accusations, Citations, and Decisions

About David Jensen

Dave Jensen was a Staff Attorney with CAMFT since April 2002. He was born in Flint, Michigan, but was raised in Tustin, California. Dave graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History, and he received his law degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. Dave passed the California bar examination in February 1999, and he did it on his first try! Before joining CAMFT, Dave worked for Foley & Lardner, a large national law firm, where he regularly established and advised nonprofit organizations. As an attorney with CAMFT, he consults with its members regarding their legal and ethical dilemmas, and he is a regular contributor to The Therapist magazine.  Dave gives numerous law and ethics presentations to chapters, schools, and agencies, and his popular What Does the Law Expect of Me? series, which includes Parts I, II, III, and IV, have helped therapists to better understand their legal and ethical obligations.

**Upon completion of workshop, participants will earn 6 CE Credits.

1) This course has been designed for a mental health professional that include LMFT's, LCSW's, LPCC's, and LEP's. Also, Pre-licensed and Associate members may earn hours of experience for attending the Santa Barbara Chapter of CAMFT workshops as approved by their supervisor.

2) Refund/Cancelation Policy: Attendees may cancel registration and request a refund one week from the time of the event.
